Description: Argentinian-British composer Milstein's music weaves delicate, intricate tapestries of long, melismatic vocal or instrumental lines. Alternating exuberance and passion with intimacy and reflection, their vivid color palette is a musical response to visual art, as in of lavender light..., or poetry, especially here that of her compatriot, Borges. The ecstatic fire dressed in black, setting mystical verses of St John of the Cross, is an extended, increasingly exultant mosaic of musical imagery. tigres azules offers a profusion of detail, a highly ornamented 'sensuous fractal', in the composer's apt description; it draws its inspiration from one of Borges many elaborations of the idea of infinitely proliferating objects or ideas, and from the patterns of architecture and ornament of the Dilwara temples of Rajasthan. Alison Wells (mezzo), Lontano; Odaline de la Martinez.
