Description: Most of these pieces were composed before Tintner fled the Nazis in 1938, the short, ten-minute sonata which brings together Chopin, Scriabin and Brahms probably dating from his mid-teens. These are tonal works and easily approachable whereas the large-scale piece here, the violin sonata (1944) uses atonality and serialism (first experimented with in the 1939 Trauermusik) as well as including several passages of lyrical beauty.
