Description: From an 1861 work commemorating the beginning of Cervantes' annual memorial (three pieces from incidental music by Barbieri for a play) to Guerra's 2005 suite of music from a newly-commissioned film score for G.W. Pabst's 1933 Quixote film, these are five Spanish composers' responses to Cervantes and his anti-hero, stylistically diverse but generally conservative and approachable with Román providing the most pungently dissonant (yet oddly minimalist) sounds among the whole group. Spanish-English texts. Chorus and Orchestra of the Comunidad de Madrid; José Ramón Encinar.
