Description: The well-known duets (and the graceful, neo-classical oboe quartet) share space with two quite unusual pieces - the 1949 Mazurka-Nocturne written for the 100th anniversary of Chopin's death, and the Phantasie of 1944. The latter was recorded by Mode in 1999 with the original theremin but, here, we have it performed on the ondes martenot, a not unfitting choice since it was Leon Termen who inspired Maurice Martenot to invent his own weird and ghostly-sounding electronic instrument. Stamitz Quartet, Lajos Lencsés (oboe), Valérie Hartmann-Claverie (ondes martenot), Helena Suchárová (piano).
