IGNACY FELIKS DOBRZYNSKI (1807-1867): String Quartet No. 1 in E Minor, Op. 7, STANISLAW MONIUSZKO (1819-1872): String Quartets No. 1 in D Minor and No. 2 in F.
Catalogue Number: 05I046
Description: All three of these are student works, the Dobrzinski almost 30 minutes long and the Moniuszkos together only a bit longer than that. Dobrzynski was still a student of Elsner and he shows the expected influences of Haydn, Hummel and Beethoven while Moniuszko combines originality (already using Polish folk-like themes as well as the tune from one of his early songs) with similar contemporary influences (including the finale of Chopin's F minor piano concerto). Camerata Quartet.
