Description: Called "Traumspielsuite" on the cover and traycard, this six-movement suite of some 32 minutes is the incidental music for a production of Strindberg's "A Dream Play" but Vladigerov published it under the title listed above. Its delightful music ranges from the heady exoticism and mystery of Schreker to the Elgarian simplicity of, say, The Wand of Youth. The seven Bulgarian Dances, full of the expected color and exotic rhythms, date from 1931, each carrying either the original Bulgarian dance-name or its German translation, together lasting 37 minutes and Vardar - probably the piece Vladigerov is best-known for in the West - is a ten-minute work quite firmly in the form and tradition of Enescu's Romanian Dances. Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra; Horia Andreescu.
