Description: These are all early works, dating from 1941-44 and are much more up-to-date with contemporary musical events than Ramette’s later, neo-romantic orchestral works. The pungency of Stravinsky and Prokofiev, Poulenc and Martinu is present especially in the three sonatas (although the works don’t really “sound like” any particular one of those composers), the nervous and dark quality likely related to composing under occupation but, the notes being miniscule, who can say? Vít Mužik (violin), Carmine Miranda (cello), Karolina Rojahn (piano), Erik Van Heyningen (baritone) and other performers.
