FERDINANDO BERTONI (1725-1813): Orfeo ed Euridice.

Description: Commissioned by the same singer who premiered Gluck’s Orfeo in 1762, this stripped-down, 70-minute version of 1776 uses the same libretto and, Bertoni admitted, was written with Gluck’s score in fonrt of him! Yet it has original elements and is a bit more than a historical curiosity. Only one other recording exists, from 1994 on the defunct Arts label. Italian libretto.
