Description: The element of the exotic (young female Japanese percussion virtuoso) meets the unplayable (it took 14 days over four recording sessions to capture 60 minutes of music) in this new ultra-hi-fi surround sound sonic spectactular. Why did it take so long? Because, unlike the short (14 minutes) Rebonds, Pléïades is for six percussionists. The notes don't insult our intelligence by telling us the recording is the result of complex multi-tracking (there's a picture of Kuniko playing with headphones on but, even without that, I mean, duh!!). She also personally selected the 114 chunks of rectangular metal to build the instrument Xenakis specified for the Métaux movement (called a SIXXEN - Six + first three letters of composer's name; 6 19-metal bar instruments = 114 bars). I'll stop now. Xenakis fans can take over from here. Kuniko (percussion).
