Description: Ethnographer, folklorist, and composer, Kolberg left behind 85 volumes of work in these fields but most of his music was only collected for publication in the 1990s. Think of him as a 19th-century Polish Bartók, collecting, harmonizing and adapting folk melodies and songs. The 72 minutes of songs on Disc 2 are almost his entire output while the 67 minutes of piano pieces could yet be supplemented. 2 CDs. No texts. Anna Radsiejewska (soprano), Karol Kozlowski, Tadeusz Szlenkier, Dariusz Stachura (tenors), Mariusz Rutkowski (piano).
