Description: This series ends with quartets from 1911 (rev. 1914) and 1921 in which Isasi's German studies are apparent. Both are very relaxed, amiable works free of galloping delight or profound darker emotions; even the scherzi are laid-back. The 1917 sonata, however, contains material throughout which is linked to Basque folk melodies while also harboring echoes of Richard Strauss, who, at the time of its composition, Isasi felt was Europe's most important composer.
