Description: Unlike fellow Australian Conyngham's Vast (see above), the subject of Mills' 40-minute ballet from 1980 are children's stories by fellow countrywoman May Gibbs (1877-1969). Thus, his music is concerned with color, whimsy, humor and the occasional dissonance for the bad guys and is somewhat more oriented toward the French and Russian ballet music traditions with a bit of popular music thrown in.
