Description: These works are associated with stage performance: the two film scores for Ken Russell films of the same year (1971), one based on 1920s dance-band music and the other, befitting its devilish subject, something you would have expected to hear from Maxwell Davies' peformance group The Fires of London at that time. Seven In Nomine of 1965 is associated with the later opera Taverner, four of its pieces derived from Taverner's Gloria Tibi Trinitas mass, but treated in modern fashion while the two Yellow Cake (as in uranium ore) Revue piano pieces come from an anti-mining revue in 1980 held at Stromness hotel; the first, Farewell to Stromness, has become Maxwell Davies' most familiar piece. Aquarius; Nicholas Cleobury. Original 1990 and 1994 Collins Classics releases.
