Description: It seems to me that there is more room for emotion in Mompou's songs than there is in his piano pieces. A few of these songs are quite dramatic and the late (1973) Valéry set bleak and somber with an angular vocal line contributing to the effect. Then, some, like the four mélodies of 1925 are very much like his piano pieces. Plenty of variety. No texts. Marta Mathéu (soprano), Jordi Masó (piano).
