Description: If you remember Gergiev's series of Russian operas on Philips back in the 90s, you'll know this performance. Those were all or mostly live recordings at the Mariinsky Theatre and, while it's not clear if this is the filmed version of the live performance issued on CD, it's definitly a live performance from the same series of performances in 1993. Gorchakova was critically hailed for her performance of a role comparable to Richard Strauss' Salomé in its demands on technique and stamina.
