Description: Bruneau began work on the Requiem in 1884 but it was not performed until 1896 (by Stanford in London!). When I tell you that there's a children's choir by itself for a moment singing the Dies irae most ethereally, you'll know that this is closer to Fauré than to Verdi! There are moments of splendour but none of terror and plenty of reverental beauty. Mireille Delunsch (soprano), Nora Gubisch (mezzo), Edgaras Montvidas (tenor), Jérôme Varnier (bass), Flemish Radio Choir, Childrens' Chorus of La Monnaie, Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of La Monnaie; Ludovic Morlot.
