Most of these groups of piano pieces are early; and who do they sound like? Schumann, Herzogenberg's first musical idol. His wife's set of pieces add the element of pianistic virtuosity which is lacking in much of his own piano music (she was of professional quality although did not pursue a career after her marriage).
