Description: The recent Czerny mini-renaissance moves to Japan for this set of violin-piano music based around the three Sonatinas of 1837 whose publisher also issued Schubert's identically-named works the year before. These are filled with Schubertian melodicism and a Beethovenian sense of rhythmic wit. The op. 1 dates from 1807 - 20 variations on a theme of Krumpholtz produced while Beethoven as Czerny's teacher. The Polonaise (1835) and L'Espagnole (1834) are virtuoso exercises using themes of Polish and Spanish character. 2 CDs. Bruno Canino (piano), Wilfried Kazuki Hedenborg (violin).
