Description: The usual batch of short pieces, colorful and attractive, are joined in this new volume by the 33-minute long sonata from 1841. Written in haste over a three-week period for a German prize competition, it took second place but Louis Spohr, one of the jurors, thought it should have won and it prompted Schumann to provide a glowing mention of the work in his Neue Zeitschrift für Musik Thomas Trondhjem (piano).
