Description: Born in Warsaw, active musically in Italy and Switzerland and dying in London (he married an Englishwoman and the French philosopher Henri Bergson was one of their children), Bergson is another example of the Polish artist forced by the political situation of his partitioned country to live and work abroad. Premiered in 1868, the concerto’s manuscript was only recently discovered in a London antiquarian shop and edited for performance, giving us another “Romantic Piano Concerto” (with a brilliant solo part and a zingaresque finale) not gotten to first by Hyperion. Jonathan Plowright (piano), Aleksandra Kubas-Kruk (soprano), Poznań Philharmonic Orchestra; Łukasz Borowicz.
