Description: After a two-disc set of piano music just six months ago (09U036), the “other” Mendelssohn continues to get welcome notice with a full-length, four-movement (33 minutes) sonata published in 1917. Unabashedly conservative and melodic, it could have been written thirty or more years earlier, making Brahms and Gernsheim apt discmates. We assume that this is a first recording. Friedemann Eichhorn (violin), José Gallardo (piano).
