Description: Rosauro is a Brazilian percussionist and composer and all four of the works recorded here have the unmistakeable feel of his native country’s folk and popular music. He is concerned with melody rather than a loud, percussive style and it’s remarkable how cantabile the voice is he gives even to the timpanist in that concerto. Mellow lyricism and jaunty rhythms balance each other throughout these piees and there is much delicacy in the solo arts along with some bowing techniques which produce ethereal, unreal colors. Really, this music is not far off from the “light music” genre. Ney Rosauro (vibes, marimba), Roland Härdtner (timpani, marimba), Southwest German Chamber Orchestra Pforzheim; Timo Handschuh.
