Description: Da Mota’s decade from 1885 to 1895 is chronicled here as he begins with a Schumannian Fantasiestück, transitions to pianism of Lisztian character in the 1891 Böcklin pieces and then, in the 42 minutes of the Rapsódias (1891 and 1894-5), postulates a school of national Portuguese Romanticism, using fado tunes, religious and love songs and children’s round dances to create a mosaic of national identity.
