Description: Verdi and Pizzetti provide tonal comfort in this otherwise avant-garde concert of Italian choral music. The main reason this is here is Scelsi's pair: the one redolent of hypnotic ancient ritual (TKRDG) and the other an early work (no dates given for either) which poses the question "If Stanley Kubrick had heard Yliam instead of Ligeti's Lux Aeterna, how would that have changed reception of the latter's music?", both still playing with the guts and microguts of a single tone. Petrassi's setting of five Edward Lear quasi-limericks is a piece of pure fun, meditating between Italic extremes. Italian-English texts. Hubert Steiner (guitar), Boris Müller, Martin Homann, Adam Weisman (percussion), SWR Vocal Ensemble; Marcus Creed.
