Description: Only the 1891 waltzes, Brahmsian and none over two minutes, and a couple of the shorter pieces are originally for four hands. The rest, and the two largest works - Bossi's suite and Ponchielli's Scena - originally orchestral, are transcriptions. One gets an idea that a recording of the Bossi would be attractive and colorful (if imagining an organ composer's orchestration is a worthy use of one's time) but, if you were obsessive enough to buy the Bongiovanni CD of Ponchielli's two symphonies and the picturesque Scena 22 years ago, you won't have to wonder how the latter would sound in its original form. Paola Borganti, Giulio Giurato (piano).
