Description: These works cover most of the Danish composer's career, from early, late Romantic pieces like Romance, Aquarelle and Minuet (1914-17) to the Stravinsky and Prokofiev-influenced sonatas (1924 and 1951) with the neo-baroque Concertino in between (1933). His spiky sense of humor comes out in most but especially in Bricconata ("Prank") and Palavas, two short pieces written in 1951 and 1952 for the violinist who also premiered Riisager's concerto. Johannes Søe Hansen (violin), Christina Bjørkøe (piano), Anne Søe Iwan (second violin), Inkeri Vänskä, Inger Ørbæk Lerch Høj, Christian Ellegaard (other violins). SACD hybrid
