Description: Without laboring the old saw about buses, I'll just note that from 1993 to 2010, there was only one recording of this symphony. Then cpo issued one (03L002) in March of the latter year and now, three years later, we have a budget-priced one; it comes from the composer's "Brahms period" stylistically (1884) and has a particularly memorable scherzo, wrapped around an extensive, song-like trio.
