VICENTE MARTÍN Y SOLER (1754-1806): Il burbero di buon cuore.

Description: The first of Martín's collaborations with librettist Da Ponte (January of 1786) puts it right in the mix with Le nozze di Figaro aro and, the next year, Don Giovanni. In fact, this recording includes the two substitute arias Mozart wrote for a revival in 1789 for Louise Villeneuve (K. 582 and 583). Simple, with charming melodies and colorful orchestration, it turned out to be a down payment, as it were, for Una cosa rara which, later the same year would make the public forget all about Figaro's triumph the previous May.
