Description: These trios date from 1991 to 2008 but all mix Latin jazz and salsa elements (rhythmic and/or melodic) with more modern compositional techniques (No. 2 uses a twelve-tone row with rhythmic elements of both salsa and Afro-Cuban drumming); the short Fanfarria of 2000 uses the open intervals and triads associated with Copland with similar salsa rhythms in a unique tribute to the Copland centennial).
