Description: It shouldn't surprise anyone that Villa-Lobos' choral music would have a lot of fun pieces but there are perhaps more here than one might have expected. Even the late set of quotes from Proverbs (Bendita Sabedoria) is infused with the rhythms of popular and folk idioms while the wordless voices of the Bach Prelude and Fugue are just too fun not to listen to again immediately. Indian sources inform the Lendas Amerindias and the unaccompanied choral version of the famous woodpecker Chôros No. 3 while José is a comical poem, about a young dandy whose night out ends badly. Portuguese-English texts.
