Description: Collectors of Czech music will remember when these Kvapil Unicorn CDs were, for all these composers but Dvorak, almost the only recordings of this repertoire available. All eight volumes are not collected here: only five are (and the Smetana is excerpted from two original CDs' worth) but the Novak is a world premiere recording, made just last year and includes the 1903 piano original of the later-orchestrated Slovak Suite and one of two Valachian Dances from one year later. Neither of the latter are otherwise available on disc. 6 CDs. Radoslav Kvapil (piano). Original 1990-94 Unicorn-Kanchana releases except for Novak.
