Description: Composed in 1753 as a supplement for students (with increasing levels of difficulty) to part 1 of his "Essay on the True Manner of Playing Keyboard Instruments", Bach poured all of his creativity into making teaching pieces into models of the aesthetics and technical aspects of keyboard playing. Expressive markings and performance directions are everywhere (which is why this is recorded on the clavichord: one requires vibrato, which can only be produced on this instrument), making this as useful for scholars as for students.
