Description: Utterly content with continuing the turn-of-the-century French tradition, Damase's works suggest Fauré, Ravel and Debussy, especially the heart-easing quartet of 1991, written for flutist Ransom Wilson and which sparkles like a spring meadow near the Seine. Although 45 years separate the Sonate from the trio, all these works are stylistically of a piece and will delight any collector of French chamber music. Jean-Michel Damase (piano), Gérard Bourgogne (flute), Jacques Tys (oboe), Arnaud Leroy (clarinet), Masako Kudo (second flute). 2005 release.
