JOHANN CASPAR KERLL (1627-1693): Missa Renovationis, Missa Non sine quare.
Catalogue Number: 03K018
Reference: C 58031
Description: Kerll's contemporaries valued him most highly for his counterpoint and his contribution to the then-new genre of the Missa concertato in which independent instrumental parts (two violins here) and extra voices were added to the basso continuo (cello, violone and organ here) supported choral parts. These are two examples, receiving their first recordings, from Kerll's own collection and publication of his masses which came out in 1689. Vocal and instrumental soloists, Dresden Boys' Choir; Matthias Jung.
