Description: The sea song as a genre sprang up in Poland after World War I when the country regained access to the Baltic with the return of Pomerania. Many composers, as an act of patriotism, wrote such works to help reunite the Pomeranians with the rest of Poland and to reacquaint the mass of Poles with their newly returned heritage. These (1935) are part of a series of 34 songs intended for amateur choirs and which tend to be syllabic and melismatic but include polyrhythmic elements as well. Polish-English texts. Choir of the University of Warmia and Mazury, Olsztyn; Benedykt Blonski.
