KARL GOLDMARK (1830-1915): Complete Piano Works, Vol. 2 - Piano Pieces, Op. 29, Romance, Brautlied, Kinder auf dem Rasen, Sturm und Drang, Op. 5.
Catalogue Number: 03J053
Reference: HCD 32493
Description: Sturm und Drang is a nine-piece suite of character pieces much in the style and manner of Schumann (the descriptive titles include "Disconsolate", "Rustic Scenes", "Visions" and "Remembrance") which dates from 1858, as do the three pieces without opus number which were originally a part of the suite. A much later set, the op. 29 pieces contains two Novelettes (again very Schumannesque) and a Prelude and Fugue reminding us that Bach was an important part of Goldmark's background as well. Tihamér Hlavacsek (piano).
