Description: The 70-year-old Dubois' piano quartet starts off sounding like Vierne - troubled, dark, a first movement full of racing anxiety - and the second movement provides little relief. Suddenly, the years and cares drop away in the third movement Allegro leggiero and a bright, bustling finale wraps up a happy ending. From 1905, the quintet is quite unusual in its use of an oboe, which takes the tessitura of the second violin in a normal piano quintet and this is a much more relaxed work throughout. Oliver Triendl (piano), Nina Karmon (violin), Stefan Schilli (oboe), Anja Kreynacke (viola), Jakob Spahn (cello).
