Description: The second flute concerto of 1987 has an uncommonly relaxed and pastoral first movement, a much more melancholy second and an ethnically-tinged dance-like finale (the 1961 First is almost as relaxed, upbeat and optimistic and both are rarely recorded) while the Miniatures are 1983 arrangements of a 1945 flute-and-piano original whic we offered along with the sunny trio on a cpo disc of Weinberg’s music for wind instruments back in mid-2012 (07O071).
