Description: Anyone who loves the bassoon will likely be delighted by this collection. Only the four-minute AchaB will offend tender ears. Most of the pieces are downright tonal and lyrical in a melancholy, wistful way; even Morricone alters his avant-garde "serious music" tendencies enough to produce a kind of macabre, creepy ten-minute essay. All works but the 2001 Cardini date from 2010-12 and were written for the soloist here.
