Description: Borup-Jørgensen explores two aspects of the recorder family as applied to contemporary music. The one, a rather unexpected capacity for a huge range of extended technical effects, is heard to great advantage in the nocturnal nature-sounds of Nachtstück. The other, a modern extension of the instrument's traditional melodic character, with agile, flexible leaps of register, becomes the predominant characteristic of the later works. And a natural middle ground - the uncannily lifelike emulation of birdsong - permeates many of these inventive, colorful pieces. Michala Petri, Elisabet Selin (recorders), Ingrid Myrhøj (harpsichord), Gert Mortensen (percussion).
