Description: Clementi's six symphonies have gotten little notice from record companies, the only complete set having been ASV's which came out in 1992 while there is a budget-priced set of the WO 1-4 on Apex. These latter likely date from sometime around 1819-1824 and none survives intact, Alfredo Casella reconstructing in the late 1930s the two recorded here. Firmly in the style of late Haydn and Beethoven, these vital, colorful and richly orchestrated symphonies really should be much better known.
