VITTORIO GIANNINI (1903-1966): Piano Concerto, Symphony No. 4.
Catalogue Number: 02K009
Description: World premiere recordings of both works - the only symphony or concerto by this composer to be available on disc. The hyper-romantic, Rachaminovian concerto (1937) lasts 41 minutes and is full of the arching, expressive melodies this neo-romantic composer was known for, while the 1960 symphony, a more concise work whose three movements take only 23 minutes, manages to add a few touches of modernism to its heartfelt romantic style. Gabriela Imreh (piano), Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra; Daniel Spalding.
