Description: From 1936 and 1937, Pare Lorentz's documentary films broke new ground in mexing pictorial imagery, symphonic music and poetic free verse. The music and narration have been newly recorded giving these extraordinary documentaries a new lease on life. In the process, several music cuts made in the original films have been restored. Extras include a 17-minutes discussion of Thomson by composer Charles Fussell and 21 minutes on the films themselves by educational film expert George Stoney as well as an audio-only seven minutes of Thomson himself commenting on the film scores.
