EUGENE GOOSSENS (1893-1962): Symphony No. 2, Op. 62, Phantasy Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 63.

Description: Back in 2005, we offered a three-disc box of Orchestral Goossens from ABC Classics in Australia. We quoted a Gramophone review of this symphony of 1945: “…the epic grandeur and turbulent demeanour of Goossens's admirably ambitious inspiration" and which compared it with the Bax Second. Now Chandos continues their Goossens series with the symphony and also the 1948 Phantasy Concerto which was originally promised to Heifetz, who never performed it.
