Catalogue Number: 01U022
Reference: CDA 1829-2
Description: Geijer was a writer, historian, poet and philosopher in addition to composing a handful of chamber pieces and rather more songs. This quartet dates from 1822 and inhabits the world of late Haydn and early Beethoven. Randel was a composer and musician only and wrote four violin concertos in addition to several chamber works and while we can’t give you a date for this quartet, we can recommend its attractive and, in the slow movement, impassioned lyricism which on occasion, calls Schubert to mind. Norrköping Quartet (Swedish Radio recording May 9, 1977).
