Catalogue Number: 01T017
Description: The first volume of this series brought us, eight months ago (05S028), flashy, virtuoso music for violin for Mayseder to dazzle his public. The sixth quartet of 1818 is more of the same - basically a concerto for violin and string trio lasting half an hour with plenty of melodies of popular cast. But it turns out that the younger Mayseder was more of a poet - his 32-minute, four-movement quartet from 1811 looks ahead to early Romanticism and inhabits a similar world to Schubert’s early quartets. Hope there are more like it to come! Mayseder Quartet.
