Description: Gluck collectors will know that there is no definitive "original version" of this opera, premiered in Prague in 1750. There are no notes whatever about who edited this version (recorded live in 2011) and what its source is but online research reveals the cutting of most of the recitatives and shortening of many of the arias, which is why this one lasts 97 minutes and the recent Virgin Classics recording of the 1763 version takes 50 minutes longer. 2 CDs.
