Description: These works are from 1946 to 1958 when Raphael was evolving from his middle period into his late period when he stopped writing almost anything for more than two or three instruments and often used woodwinds. In addition, beginning here with the viola sonata of 1954, he used twelve-tone theory although, as with many of his more independently-minded colleagues, you would often never know it from casual listening. Quite enjoyable, often with quirky melodic or rhythmic turns, these late chamber works are more than meet the eye upon seeing their titles.
