Description: Greene, best known for his sacred music, selected these sonnets from Spenser's total of 80 Amoretti and wrote his songs in 1738, showing him to have been a master of word-setting technique and a subtle colorist with a sensitive ear for the original verse. You might think of it as among the first compositions in English which one might call a song-cycle. Texts included. Benjamin Hulett (tenor), Luke Green (harpsichord), Giangiacomo Pinardi (theorbo).
