Description: Head had a career both as a professor at the RCM for almost 50 years and as a singer who accompanied himself - rare but not completely unheard of. His more than 100 songs are in a conservative style akin to Quilter and sometimes recall the Edwardian parlor genre. Although he has a wide emotional range, from elegiac to whimsical and from hearty to dramatic, they are all elegant, refined and quite charming. Texts included. Ailish Tynan (soprano), Catherine Wyn-Rogers (mezzo), Roderick Williams (baritone), Christopher Glynn (piano).
